Free guided troubleshooting, before you pay anyone.

A guided troubleshooter for phones, laptops, printers and WiFi. It runs the same first checks a technician would, in the same order, and tells you plainly when to stop. Nothing to install, nothing to pay.

Pick the device, pick the symptom, work down the list. If it is still broken at the end you get a WhatsApp message filled in with everything you already ruled out — so nobody asks you to do it twice.

Stop and bring it in if: a battery is swollen or the case is bulging, you can smell burning, a device has been in water, there is any mains wiring involved, or the machine is still under warranty — opening it yourself voids that. Never charge a swollen battery and never puncture one.

Why we give this away

Because most of it is free anyway

A good share of what arrives at this counter is a broken charging cable, a blocked vent, a full hard drive or a router that needed thirty seconds unplugged. Charging someone R250 to unplug a router is not a business, it is a favour you only get once.

So the checks are published. If they work, you keep your money and you learned something. If they do not, you arrive knowing exactly what has been ruled out, and we get to the real fault faster.

What these guides are

  • Written here, for this shop, from actual repair work and a day job in IT support.
  • Ordered the way a technician orders them — cheapest and most likely first.
  • Honest about the stopping point. Every guide ends before it gets dangerous.

About the iFixit links

Each guide links out to iFixit, an independent repair community with photo teardowns for thousands of devices. If you want to go further than our steps go, that is where to read next. We link to their work rather than reprinting it — their guides are theirs, and they are better placed to keep them current than we are.

If you would rather not

Nobody has to do any of this. Bring it in, pay the R50 diagnosis, and we will tell you what is wrong. The diagnosis comes off the bill if you go ahead with the repair.

Tried everything?

Send us the list. The console fills the message in for you, so we can start where you stopped.
